Churchill's Port

10 Year Old tawny port 50cl bottle
Description: ‘Unquestionably the finest Tawny I've tasted in years. What makes it profound is its complex fragrance of roasted nuts and sweet fruit. There is impeccable definition and richnesss, a velvety texture and a long lust finish. It is all a tawny should be.’ —Robert Parker

A rich brick red colour with flashes of amber, elegant and subtle, complex on the nose, with expressive notes of dry fruits combined with hints of Orange peel, full on the mouth, this 10 years Old Tawny Port shows an excellent vinosity and freshness, allowing it to finish long and persistent.

Compared to other Port Wine shippers, most of which were established around the turn of the18th/19th centuries, Churchill’s history is short.

Churchill's Port

20 Year Old tawny port 50cl bottle
Description: Churchill's 20 Years Old tawny Port is an expression of Douro terroir, combined with delicate ageing in seasoned oak casks. ?The result of this combination is a port full of finesse that retains Churchill's characteristic fresh identity.

Compared to other Port Wine shippers, most of which were established around the turn of the18th/19th centuries, Churchill’s history is short. Johnny Graham founded Churchill’s (named after his wife’s maiden name) in 1981, making it the first British port company to be established in fifty years. The grapes are hand-picked and processed into ancient granite lagares, where they are trodden by foot while fermentation naturally occurs.

Churchill's Port, 2005

Crusted Port Bottled 2005
Description: The Churchill crusted port is a blend of two ports from different years which has been aged in oak for two to three years before bottling. The port has been aging in the bottle since 2005 so it's ready to drink now. This method of port production means that we get to taste the best bits from two years of hard work all in a glass. That's a lot of hard work for a lovely rich glass of ruby port. It's unfiltered though, so don't forget to decant!

Crusted Port is a Port of Vintage quality which is often blended from Vintage Port lots of two different years. It is aged in oak casks before being bottled and then matured in bottle for at least 3 years before being sold.

Vintage Port CASE of 6x75cl
Description: Wooden Case of 6x75cl bottles

Johnny Graham's Churchill's 2011, from Quinta da Grincha on the south bank of the Douro, is classic in style and has decades of ageing potential. The complexity and character of the wine is extraordinary and despite being made in very small quantities it is hard to think of any other wine producing region that can offer anything of comparable value. The Churchill's 2011 shone at a recent tasting of all the major ports. Drink 2020 – 2035+.

Reviews
‘This is a long-haul vintage with clout and finesse... The colour, aroma, tannin structure and freshness of the wines was flawless.

Quinta do Agua Alta Vintage Port
Description: Despite its thoroughly traditional-sounding name Churchill is the newest of the British-owned Port companies, founded in 1981 by J. Graham. Quinta Agua Alta is named after the spring at the top of the vineyard and it produces wonderfully pure and fresh water that bubbles up through the granite rock below the thin top soil. Olives and figs grow in abundance around the vineyard which produces a quite stunninly powerful port. Deep purple in colour with a mass of soft and concentrated fruit. There's plenty of tannin to give structure and a pleasing earthiness on the finish. This is the perfect way to round off a good dinner.

Churchill's Port, 2014

Vintage Port MAGNUMS in Individual boxes
Description: Churchill’s 2014 has a freshness of fruit with a solid tannic structure. In style, it is more of an “old-school” Vintage; it has, what we used to call in the Trade, a “steel girder” or backbone which will ensure the excellent longevity required for maturing a classic Vintage Port.

A very deep black violet colour to the rim. On the nose, intense aromas of fresh blackberries along with notes of resin and hints of gum cistus and green tea. Powerful and compact on the palate, combining a great tannic structure with excellent natural acidity and layers of berry and floral flavours. Full of intensity, ends in a very long and persistent finish.

Churchill's Port, 1985

Vintage Port
Description: This has a great colour, still very dense and dark. On the nose there are notes of dried fruit, dried blueberries, juniper berries with a little smoke. This is very nice and certainly has a lot of style. The palate is rich, refined, firm and structured, with a firm backbone of alcohol beneath a creamy midpalate. Reserved yet flavoursome, with more of those juniper berry notes and a deliciously sweet but precisely presented texture, this wine is really coming round very nicely. Fine and balanced, a pleasure to drink.
