Fonseca Port, 1991

Guimaraens Vintage Port (HALF Bottle 37.5cl)

Description and Reviews:
*** 93 points - Robert Parker ***
*** 93 Points - Wine Spectator ***

The 1991 Fonseca Guimaraens is an outstanding example from the very good 1991 vintage. At its glorious peak now it will also continue to develop with further cellaring.

The Guimaraens, named after the late Bruce Guimaraens, is vintage port made in non-declared years. Forward and ready for drinking – a classic example of the silky Fonseca style.

Reviews:
"93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Fonseca has scored in both the 1991 and 1992 vintages. The 1991 Guimaraens is the most impressive bottle I have tasted of this offering. The opaque purple color, and sweet, copious aromas of cassis, licorice, and flowers, are followed by a supple, rich, full-bodied, precocious tasting port that is already easy to drink. While it will be quick to develop, it still requires another 4-5 years of aging. It is extremely impressive because of its sumptuous texture and rich, pure fruit. Fabulous blackberry and berry aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate. Medium sweet, with a refined, silky finish. Still shows tannic astringency, but superlong and gorgeous, with a chocolate character. Just starting to be ready. '91/'92 Port retrospective. (5/2005) WIne Ssectator
