Palmer Port, 2016

Colheita

Exclusive to Vintage Wine & Port.

The 2016 Palmer colheita Port is a type of tawny port wine made from a single vintage and aged in wood for at least seven years before being bottled. The 2016 Colheita Port, therefore, would have been aged in casks many years before being bottled.

Tasting Notes:
This Port has a deep tawny colour and a nose of rich and complex aromas of dried fruits, nuts, caramel, and spices. On the Palate the Port is smooth and well-balanced with flavours of fig, raisin, walnut, and toffee. There can be a hint of vanilla and a touch of spice due to the oak ageing. Long, smooth finish with lingering sweetness and a touch of acidity.

Palmer Port, 2016

White Port

Palmer White Port 2016 (Douro, Portugal)

The 2016 Palmer shows a bright deep-gold colour and an inviting, fruit-forward nose of orange blossom, lemon peel and white peach, layered with acacia honey, vanilla pod and blanched almond. It’s medium-sweet yet lively on the palate: ripe pear and apricot sit over a spine of mouth-watering acidity, while gentle time in old oak brings nougat and subtle baking spice. A discreet saline snap keeps the finish precise and long, tapering with orange zest, almond cream and a light cedar echo.

Serve well-chilled (10–12 °C) in a white-wine glass. It’s excellent as an aperitif and shines in a Portonic (equal parts Palmer White Port and good tonic over ice, citrus twist).

Serve at room temperature on its own or with vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton, Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue.
