Churchill's 2016 Vintage Port is a magnificent expression of one of the finest Port vintages of the modern era. Produced from carefully selected vineyards in the Douro Valley, it combines remarkable concentration with the elegance and freshness that have become synonymous with the Churchill's style. The wine's deep, opaque purple colour immediately signals its intensity and exceptional ageing potential.

Founded in 1981 by Johnny Graham, Churchill's is one of the youngest independent Port houses and has earned a reputation for producing wines of purity, balance and character. Drawing upon generations of family experience in the Port trade, Churchill's focuses on expressing the individuality of its vineyards while maintaining a distinctive house style marked by freshness, restrained sweetness and refined structure.

The nose is wonderfully expressive, revealing layers of ripe blackberries, black cherries and cassis, complemented by floral notes of violet and hints of wild herbs. As the wine opens, additional nuances of dark chocolate, spice and graphite emerge, creating a complex and captivating aromatic profile that continues to develop in the glass.

On the palate, the wine is rich and powerful, delivering concentrated flavours of dark forest fruits supported by vibrant acidity and beautifully integrated tannins. The structure is impressive without being overpowering, allowing the fruit to shine through while providing the framework required for decades of maturation. Despite its youthful intensity, the wine already displays remarkable balance and poise.

The finish is long, persistent and beautifully defined, with lingering notes of black fruit, cocoa and sweet spice.
