Graham's Port, 1963

Vintage Port Grants of St James Label
Level in neck, label damaged but vintage legible

Description and Reviews:
Power, dimension and character are all hallmarks of this most memorable Vintage. Even after many years, the Graham’s 1963 never fails to impress, with its superbly balanced components of fruit, tannin and elegance. This wine conveys rose-petal aromas and the flavours of concentrated and caramelised fruit are in perfect balance. A legend in the history of Port.

"What a stunning 1963 vintage port this is! The bouquet draws you in, does not drag you in with its alcohol and reveals a fresh, well defined nose with a nutty edge, hints of cigar box and allspice. The palate is beautifully balanced, understated on the entry but building all the time, flashes of eucalyptus leading towards a more extrovert, clove tinged finish that hangs around the palate. Gorgeous Grahams! Tasted May 2009." Neil Martin, Wine Journal

19/20 Jancis Robinson
An iconic vintage which symbolised the renaissance of vintage port following the aftermath of the Second World War. Just over 500 bottles are now left in the Graham’s lodge apparently. Pale ruby. Haunting and again, so direct and transparent. Gorgeous, ethereal, light, heady and lifted. Jewel of a wine. Long and powerful, although over time in the glass it became a little spirity – as well it might at 55 years old. 19/20 points. (JR) (1/2019)
