1967 Port Vintage Report

The 1967 port vintage is a very good vintage that was somewhat overshadowed by the exceptional 1966 vintage. It was declared by about 15 shippers - some of whom (Martinez and Cockburn) declared the 1967 in preference to the 1967 vintage. Noval and a few others declared both whilst most of the English shippers elected to produce single quinta ports. The 1967 ports showed well at recent tastings, they have good structure and elegant fruit and will keep for many years to come.

Reviews:
93 Points Roy Hersch: "There is a first time for everything. This gentle giant is one of the very best of the Ports I have had from the lackluster 1967 vintage, which managed to produce a few very well-made VPs. The Sandeman is still in great shape. Due to the lighting it is impossible to tell the color. The aromatics dance out of the glass with ultra-potent, sweet violet and floral notes with a hint of mocha.

Vintage Port - In Original Krohn Box as illustrated
*Library stock from Krohn Cellars*
Special Offer | NOW £185 | Was £195

These bottles have impeccable provenance having been held in Krohn's own cellars since bottling. They were imported by VWP in December 2016.

Tasting note: Outstanding!! Pale tawny fading to amber on the rim. The nose is complex and multi-dimensional, notes of wild herbs, plum and mocha, coffee, tobacco around around a warm core. The palate displays a smooth, silky texture and finishes with a burst of rich mellow flavour. The finish is long and elegant. A, finely constituted port that is drinking well now but with careful cellaring it will hold for a few years.

Perfumed, elegant and very attractive on the nose. Lively, tannic and massively fruity in the mouth. Lots of mid-palate activity, really attractive. Dry and tannic with a strong core of acidity that just makes the mouth water uncontrollably. A big but hot aftertaste with lots of black licorice dominating a long length. Very decent sipping wine and very enjoyable.

Dow's Port, 1967

Reserve Port

The 1967 Dow Reserve is a rare wine.

Generations of Symington winemakers have worked at the Dow's vineyards: Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, creating from them Dow's superbly concentrated wines that are intense and tannic when young, maturing towards a superlative racy elegance with age and scented with violet and mint aromas. Taylor's Port, 1967

Single Harvest Tawny Port (Comes in original Taylor's Box as illustrated)

Taylors have just announced a limited release of their 1967 Single Harvest Tawny Port. This is a new release of a rich, mellow and spicy 1967 Single Harvest Port.

It is presented in a classic Taylor’s frosted bottle, and packaged in a high quality beech-wood box.

During its five decades of ageing in oak casks, this wine has taken on an attractive pale mahogany colour with olive amber highlights. On the nose the wine displays fine oaky aromas and complex spicy, nutty, cigar box notes against a warm mellow background of butterscotch and molasses. The smooth velvety palate is lifted by a crisp acidity which gives the wine an attractive freshness in spite of its age.
