"...a definite Bordeaux-like nose! Well defined, foursquare at first, opening up nicely with maraschino cherries, cloves, burnt wood/embers and bergamot, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is very harmonious and elegant. Fleshy, harmonious, seductive on the palate with allspice, nutmeg and ginger sprinkled over the viscous finish and finally, freshly rolled tobacco on the aftertaste. Orange in colour, with a very pale orange rim. Stewed fruit on the nose; sweet, but cut with a lovely lime acidity. Sweet entry, a touch hollow but a pleasant medicinal fruitiness - a touch of harshness in the mid-palate. A lovely, sweet aniseed balls aftertaste; some heat in the middle fo the finish, which fades slowly and enjoyably.

Real Companhia Velha Vintage Port

From the outstanding 1970 vintage. The colour is more tawny than red, and fairly light. It gives the distinct impression of a very old, very mature vintage Port.
The nose gives a strong impression of honey and is followed by sweet grapes and soft red fruits. Very slightly spirity, but not so much that it interferes. This all changes after 5 hours as the honey and fruits nearly vanish and the nose became spirity.
Palate: Very soft and elegant with a very faint smokey note. There's more "sweet" to it than anything else, but it's not a pure sugary sweetness but rather the remains of a sweet fruit compote. …

Colheita Port, Douro

The Messias colheita port from the good 1968 vintage has been aged in a barrel until bottling in 2014.
The extended barrel aging has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodied with plenty of nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, finely balanced. A tremendous finish which goes on forever.
