Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port, 1991

Vintage Port (Special Offer was £59.95 now £39
Description: A striking, individualistic nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and lead pencil shavings emerges from this saturated purple-coloured 1991. Evolved yet expansive, sweet, and generous, it admirably conceals moderately high tannins under a wealth of fruit and glycerin. The aromatic profile and attack merit a score in the mid-nineties, but the finish is short, thus lowering the overall rating

Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port, 1980

Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port, 1980

Vintage Port
Description: Smith Woodhouse and longevity are no strangers to each other and this 1980, from probably the most under-rated house in the impressive Symington stable, is a very fine example. 1980 was a fine vintage, not overly tannic and the wines are approachable now. The Smith Woodhouse has a fine floral bouquet with hints of violets and figs, then a palate which is pleasingly mature and harmonious, marrying as it does the finely integrated spirit and the gently appreciating legacy of a ripe and generous fruit profile.

Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port, 1984

Crusted Port
Description: Crusted Port is a very small category, named because of the 'crust' of sediment that it forms in the bottle.

Smith Woodhouse is produced from very fine, rich and full bodied wines from well reputed Quintas. Crusted Port is matured in casks for three years and subsequently bottle without any filtration. The wine is then aged for a further three years in bottle prior to being offered for sale. The bottle maturation lends this Port its superb balance, complexity and style.
