Blandys, 2007

Malmsey Colheita Madeira
***94 Points- SILVER-Decanter DWWA 2023***

Description and Reviews:
Blandys Madeira has been synonymous with quality Madeira wine for over 200 years. The Blandys are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company. The family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and members of the family continue to live on Madeira, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.

The Blandy's 2007 Malmsey is a rich single vintage (Colheita) Madeira aged for 15 years in 650cl casks at the Blandy’s lodge in Funchal. The verdelho grapes were predominantly sourced from Säo Jorge on the north coast of the island. The wines were then aged for 15 years in 650cl cask at the Blandy’s lodge in Funchal. Just 2,600 75cl bottles have been released.

Tasting Notes
Colour . Amber with golden nuance, brilliant crystalline.
Aroma . Characteristic bouquet, with notes of jam and marmalade, candied fruits and dried fruits such as nuts and hazelnuts. Mouth . Very rich, soft, sweet and fresh at the same time, with a long nose of wood and dried fruits macerated in brandy.

Cellarage & Serving
This wine should be stored upright in a dark room with constant temperature, ideally no higher than 16ºC. Decanting is not necessary, but will help remove any deposit that may have occurred in bottle over time. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening. Enjoy slightly chilled on its own or paired with appetizers during a meal.
