Fonseca is one of our all-time favourites. Fonseca's 1983-vintage Port is made with a harvest that survived the first snowfall in Pinhão in 20 years and heavy rain through the spring. The 1982 Messias Colheita Port represents a fine example of a meticulously crafted Tawny Port, showcasing the expertise and tradition of Messias in producing high-quality Port wines.

Tasting notes:
A complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. Aromas of dried forest fruits, with a strong note of prunes and spice. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodied with walnuts, caramel, vanilla and sweet prunes enhanced by sultana and wood spice flavours from the cask ageing. These bottle have been taken from Grahams' cellars in Oporto where they have been stored until 240 bottles were released in 2018. The bottles are in exceptional condition with each individually numbered.


In undeclared years, its wine is bottled as Malvedos, which can be better than many Vintage Ports. Review:
The 1978 Kopke Colheita Tawny Port was bottled in 2015 with 119 grams per litre of residual sugar and a bar top cork (typical for the house). It is very graceful for its age, finishing with a wave of sweetness, fruit and sugar. Emphasizing the caramel more than the molasses, this is irresistibly delicious, but it becomes more complex and puts on weight as it airs and warms. The wine shows off its power and hints of Brandy on the rather tense finish, too. Overall, this is a beauty that becomes more impressive the longer you sit with it. …

"Pale auburn in colour, with a rose rim. Floral honey on the nose, pleasant but not strong. Dusty sweet redcurrant jelly on the tongue, with the tannins showing through as a gentle dusty persistence. Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port

The 1978 Warre Cavadinha is the first release from this estate after it was purchased by the Symington family in 1978. The late ripening cycle of this estate dictates the style of Cavadinha Ports; they are fresh, elegant and have very fine aromas and now form the backbone of Warre’s Vintage Port.

Old vines make up a very high proportion of the vineyard, consequently these wines are dark and concentrated, but the south easterly aspect and higher altitude results in a very elegant style. Healthy ruby with a brick rim. Quite subtle already; there is some perceptible evolution of colour and flavour here. Mineral rather than fruit flavours dominate. Very big and full. Very, very sweet indeed - in fact I thought it was from a Portuguese house. This wine delivers a pretty good combination of power, interest and, especially, sweetness. 1977 Warres Vintage Port is rich and highly concentrated, it has evolved into to open into a superb Port. Fragrant cassis and prunes nose, fleshy texture, loaded with ripe berry flavours, mellow tannins and a lush fruity finish. Powerful, yet impressively balanced. Colheitas are dated Tawnies from one single harvest. The minimum age requirement is 7 years, but the tradition at Quinta da Devesa is to age several more years before bottling. The wine ages at their cellars in "balseiros", "tonéis" or 550 litre casks.
