Gould Campbell Vintage Port, 1991

Vintage Port

Reviews
"1991 ~ Gould Campbell ~ Vintage Port – Dark magenta color that is just short of opaque. A spicy profile of black pepper, licorice, cedar, mint, raspberry and Raisinettes. Rich, concentrated, but silky smooth textured crushed red berry fruit, framed by cedar and black pepper. This GC delivers a soft and complex, well-defined core, snappy acidity and firm chewy tannins that forebode a long upside from here. One of the longest finishes of any Vintage Port we tasted, this is a gorgeous young Gould and requires either a long decant for current consumption, or it will reward patience if cellared.

Gould Campbell Vintage Port, 1970

Vintage Port

Medium-deep but, interestingly, with more of a youthful purple tinge than the '75. Very sweet, fruity nose, slightly high-toned, tea-like. Fairly full on the palate, yet lean. Very flavoury. Michael Broadbent

Plenty of stuffing, with layers of elegant berry flavours and silky tannins. Deep ruby-red, with a blackberry and cherry nose, full-bodied, with medium tannins backng up a fine fruit structure, giving the wine an elegant backbone(James Suckling Vintage Year Book.)

"Dark color. Very drinkable. The tannins have resolved, but the fruit is still quite strong. This is not yet at peak. Very good balance. Excellent wine!" Cellar Tracker

Gould Campbell Vintage Port, 1977

Vintage Port

Gould Campbell Vintage Ports are very good indeed, and in vintages like 1983 and 1977 they can be outstanding. I have tasted these two Vintages in blind tastings against the best names in Port and they have easily held their own. Gould Campbell Vintage Ports are rather beefy, with a high level of sweet grapey flavours and tough tannins. James Suckling, Vintage Port."
