Medium-deep but, interestingly, with more of a youthful purple tinge than the '75. Very sweet, fruity nose, slightly high-toned, tea-like. Fairly full on the palate, yet lean. Very flavoury. Michael Broadbent

Lovely nose, lots of luscious Victoria plums. Medium bodied impact, full of flavours dominated by fruit but with lots of tannin in the palate. Gould Campbell was founded in 1797 by Garret Gould who sailed to the shores of Portugal in order to avoid the political issues facing Ireland. The firm survived the Peninsula War which followed a few years later and soon became very successful bringing into partnership the prestigious Merchants and Bankers James Campbell & Co.
