1994 Port Vintage Report

A 1994 Vintage Port makes a great 26 year old wine gift for a 26th birthday or anniversary: 1994 was one of the greatest vintages of the 20th Century that produced classic, monumental port wines with rich fruit character. While these wines can be approached in their youth, the best need 20 years in bottle, making them mature for drinking now or perfect to age for another 20 years. Our wine buyer highly recommends the 1994 Taylor's Vintage Port , an outstanding Vintage Port that scored an incredible 100 points from Wine Spectator and 97 from Robert Parker.

Vintage Port - Including Wooden Gift Box

From the excellent 1994 vintage this port has a deep garnet color, with a hint of blue in the meniscus.

vivino review
On the nose there's a smell of blackberry and vegetation, some spirits and a little tobacco, but mostly wonderful fruit. It's beautiful in the mouth, hot but silky, followed by acid and tannin in the back. It's full of fruit -- blackberries and blueberries -- and leaves a hot alcohol burn in the throat. It has a lingering finish.

It has a dense, even, opaque crimson colour, with a very rich, dark well of black fruit and floral aromas, with all sorts of mineral and delicately spicy nuances.

Croft Port, 1994

Vintage Port

"The 1994 Croft exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, and a developed, forward, more evolved style than expected. It is moderately sweet, full-bodied, expansive, pure, and rich, but made in an up-front, flattering style. Although outstanding, it is not one of the superstars of the vintage. It will keep for twenty years. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020". 90 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.

Martinez Vintage Port, 1994

Vintage Port

*** 95/100 - Wine Spectator ***
The 1994 Martinez Vintage Port is a glass-staining opaque purple colour. It exhibits a classy nose of floral notes, damp earth, spice box, licorice, and black fruit compote. Medium weight on the palate with firm tannins but more than ample fruit for balance, this is a savoury, lengthy effort that should evolve for another 6-8 years and drink well.

Reviews:
A classy young Port, full-bodied and brimming with fruit flavour and silky, fine tannins that kick in on the finish. A subtle, young wine that takes you by surprise. Best after 2010. Ranked 22 of Wine Spectator's Top 100 in 1997.

Delaforce Vintage Port, 1994

Vintage Port

Youthful in appearance, medium bright ruby red tapering to a strawberry rim. Initially the nose is rather raw and stalky but this clears up in the decanter, lovely nuance, black cherries and spices, dark chocolate, hint of cherry stones, good depth; lively palate, elegant rather than concentrated but with a lovely stuffing of ripe and glossy, juicy cherry fruit, medium sweet, bright acidity, not very tannic but with more grip than many other 1994 vintage ports. Complete finish, lifted flavours of strawberry and vanilla, very good length, subtle alcoholic kick.
