Corney and Barrow Vintage Port, 1920

Vintage Port, DOC Douro
Level high shoulder, good capsule, unlabelled

The *1920 Corney & Barrow Vintage Port* is a rare and historic fortified wine, bottled over a century ago by one of Britain’s most distinguished wine merchants. Produced in the Douro during a golden era for Port, this vintage has had more than 100 years to evolve into a masterpiece of richness, elegance, and complexity. Unlabelled but with a good capsule and a high-shoulder fill, it represents both excellent provenance and a remarkable opportunity to experience Port from the roaring 1920s.

In the glass, it would be expected to display a deep tawny-brown core with greenish highlights at the rim—an unmistakable sign of venerable age in Port.

Gould Campbell, 1920

Vintage Port (JN Portugal), DOC Douro In neck

Gould Campbell has come to establish a reputation for excellent quality of their Ports and their Vintage Ports in particular. Once described as the "Saab of Vintage Ports", a comparison to the good-value and totally reliable, with a touch of slightly quirky flair, Swedish motor-cars.

Gould Campbell was founded in 1797 by Garret Gould who sailed to the shores of Portugal in order to avoid the political issues facing Ireland. The firm survived the Peninsula War which followed a few years later and soon became very successful bringing into partnership the prestigious Merchants and Bankers James Campbell & Co.

The rare 1920 Sandeman Vintage Port has a "Modest red centre, very slightly cloudy. Lovely nose, attractive and mature; gentle, smokey fruit and very gentle spirit. Lovely strawberry jam, then a strong lime acidity that finally finishes with sticky strawberry. 93/100." AHB The Port Forum 2013.

Taylor Fladgate, 1920

Vintage Port, Douro
Unlabelled

Excellent level- very top shoulder.

A tiny production from a very good year, the 1920 Taylor is mature and yet still retains some sweetness to match the almost Tawny Port notes of almonds and red cherries. Lovely right now and with plenty left to give.

Tuke Holdsworth, 1920

Vintage Port, DOC Douro

The *1920 Tuke Holdsworth Vintage Port* is an exceptionally rare fortified wine from one of the Douro’s classic early 20th-century vintages, bottled by the historic British Port shipper Tuke Holdsworth. Now over a century old, it represents a remarkable survival from the golden era of traditional Port-making—crafted entirely by hand, foot-trodden in granite lagares, and built to mature gracefully for generations. Bottles of this age and provenance are incredibly scarce, making this a true collector’s treasure.

In the glass, it would likely display a deep tawny-brown core with olive-green highlights at the rim, a signature of great maturity in vintage Port.
