2007 Port Vintage Report
The 2007 Port vintage was the first widely declared vintage since 2003; virtually every Port house that matters made a Vintage Port, attesting to the quality of the year. The growing season was preceded by a wet winter, which put plenty of moisture back into the soil after a lengthy period of dry conditions. Summer temperatures were relatively mild (unlike the torrid conditions in 2003, the last previous declared vintage). September and October weather was close to ideal so that the grapes enjoyed a lengthy hang-time under excellent conditions with full ripening of Turiga Francesa and Turiga Nacional, the two most important grape varieties. The quantities produced are small, so there is a high demand for them. There is little doubt that 2007 is a high class vintage, making a port from this year a great 13 year old wine gift for an anniversary this year.

Burmester Port, 2007
Vintage Port - Half Bottle 37.5cl
Special Offer | Was £39 | Now £29.95
This 2007 Burmester Vintage Port from the very good 2007 Port Vintage has outstanding provenance! This bottle has been stored at the Burmester cellars on Porto since bottling until it was acquired by us earlier this year.
The 2007 Burmester is a beautiful mature tawny colour. On the nose it has cocoa, chocolate together with a hint of mint. On the palate this is quite complex - medium bodied with a perfect balance between the acidity, tannins and flavours, there is a little spiciness in the mouth that adds to the experience. Long, long finish. This is in a good place and should hold well for a couple of decades. …

Croft Port, 2007
Vintage Port MAGNUM
An outstanding 2007 Vintage Port Wine from Croft. Please note: this is a rare Magnum bottle of wine - 1.5 liters.
"There is a nice limpidity on this Croft 2007. It is not the power that strikes you but the purity with black cherries, liquorice, violets and a hint of iodine. Very tight and focused. The palate is full-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry, pure blackberry, raspberry, white pepper and Asian spice towards the finish. Very fine focus, very pure and harmonious. Sensuous finish but it just tapers away when I need more grip and assertiveness. Still, this is a lovely Croft." - Neil Martin, Wine Journal, 93/100 Points (Outstanding). …

Taylor's Port, 2007
96 Points Wine Advocate
This 2007 Vintage Port is opaque, purple black in colour with a narrow violet rim. Characteristically stylish and racy, with a nose of dense blackcurrant and woodland fruit overlaid with discreet herbal nuances and scents of violet and rose petals. As usual, the classic Taylor elegance and understatement conceal the wine’s energy and vigour. On the palate, it displays the lean, sinewy and tightly knit tannins, which are so much a feature of the Taylor style, and the vibrant and clearly delineated fruit flavours, which are the hallmark of the 2007 vintage.

Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha
The 2007 Taylor Vargellas Vinha Velha is a more introverted Taylor’s Vintage, an earthy bouquet with touches of orange essence developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good backbone, quite reserved and composed at the moment. This is not a flamboyant Vinha Velha, but there is a very attractive, slightly biscuity quality towards the finish. Superb. The Vinha Vehla are five plots located in the heart of Quinta de Vargellas. The vines being between 80 and 120 years of age. Strict selection has led to a wine of stunning complexity, power and richness. This is one that will be at its peak 50 years hence. …

Warre's Port, 2007
Bottle Matured Late Bottled Vintage In Gift Box
The 2007 Late Bottled Vintage Port from Warre's is still made in the traditional way - bottled unfiltered then aged for a number of years before being released only when it is ready. As a result, it is vastly superior to most other LBV Ports, and a brilliant value substitute for full Vintage Port.
The 2007 is full-bodied, rich and sweet; deep, dark fruit flavours; long, elegant finish.
Because it is unfiltered, this LBV should be decanted before serving to leave the sediment behind.
This prolonged bottle ageing is crucial to the development of the superb “nose” and flavour which lend this Port a style and complexity very much akin to that of Vintage Port. …
