Graham's Port, 1948

Vintage Port

5 Stars - Michael Broadbent.

Rich coffee/caramel flavour. Incredibly concentrated and rich, almost syrup like in its intensity. Graham's 1948 is a truly magical Vintage with great class and power, still youthful in colour and showing continuing ageing potential. This wine confirmed Graham's as a first division Vintage house.

Reviews:
"Warm, open and inviting rosehip colour. Delicious fruit, fig, crisp, liquorice. Failry sweet, lean but lovely with hot finish." Score: 5 stars Michael Broadbent.

Taylor's Port, 1948

Vintage Port

100 points - Neil Martin Vinous.

The 1948 Taylor's has a strong tawny colour. On the nose there was a wonderful coffee, chocolate and tobacco. With an alluring herbal aroma. On the palate this port has a luscious feel on the palate and incredibly complex layers of caramel, chocolate and coffee. This continued with an incredible long persistent finish. There is Vintage Port and then there is the 1948 Taylor Fladgate. It remains a monumental Port that towers over the 20th century. Nineteen forty-eight is perhaps one of the lesser-known declarations compared to 1945 and 1963, although nine houses declared that year.

Vintage Port

Warre’s Vintage port wines combine elegance, length and balance whilst still retaining the underlying rich opulence of great Vintage Port. This unsurpassed style is derived from the inherent characteristics of Warre’s two principal vineyards: Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro Antigo. They complement each other very well. Cavadinha’s location, aspect and altitude translate into a cooler ripening cycle providing the freshness, fine subtle floral aromas and ideal acidity, the latter contributing significantly to the wines’ longevity.
