Kopke, 1953

Colheita Port in Presentation Box
Exclusive
97 Points (exceptional) - Wine Advocate

Kopke 1953 Colheita Port
The only bottle released worldwide in 2026 – secured directly from Kopke

This 1953 Kopke Colheita represents one of the rarest releases to emerge from the cellars of Kopke in recent years. In 2026, just a single bottle was selected for release globally - We have secured it.

Drawn from casks that have matured for over seven decades, this wine is the result of a slow and deliberate ageing process within Kopke’s lodges — where time, wood and careful stewardship have shaped it into something truly exceptional. Opportunities to acquire Colheitas of this age and provenance are vanishingly rare, and releases of this scale are almost unheard of.

Taylor Fladgate, 1948

Vintage Port
100 points - Neil Martin Vinous

100 points - Neil Martin Vinous.

The 1948 Taylor's has a strong tawny colour. On the nose there was a wonderful coffee, chocolate and tobacco. With an alluring herbal aroma. On the palate this port has a luscious feel on the palate and incredibly complex layers of caramel, chocolate and coffee. This continued with an incredible long persistent finish. VWP tasting March 2017

BY NEAL MARTIN | MAY 7, 2018

There is Vintage Port and then there is the 1948 Taylor Fladgate. It remains a monumental Port that towers over the 20th century. Nineteen forty-eight is perhaps one of the lesser-known declarations compared to 1945 and 1963, although nine houses declared that year.

Niepoort Port, 1900

Colheita Port, DOC Douro

Reviews
"This brings back a fond memory of a long lost friend, Paul Napolitano from NY. He once opened this identical Port for me years ago at his home and at the time, it was the finest Colheita I had experienced, as well as the oldest. This one was bottled in 1976 or 1977. A piece is torn off the label and makes it impossible to be certain. Dark coffee color with a greenish edge. Is this Madeira? A nose of bouillon cube, scents of sea breeze and toffee, reminiscent of a Malvasia and the richness and supple spine live up to that mindset. The palate is packed with copious caramel and fig flavors along with prunes and toffee intricately woven into a neat little package.

La Reserve College Cellars, 1871

La Reserve College Cellars Vintage Port, DOC Douro

The 1871 La Réserve College Cellars Vintage Port is an almost mythical bottle, representing more than 150 years of Douro winemaking history. Crafted just six years after the end of the American Civil War and during the reign of Queen Victoria, this wine comes from an era when Port was made entirely by hand—grapes foot-trodden in granite lagares and transported downriver by rabelo boats. Surviving examples of any 19th-century Vintage Port are rare; a bottle from 1871 in collectible condition is a true treasure, offering a direct, liquid connection to the Douro’s golden age.

In the glass, a Port of this age would likely display a deep mahogany-brown core shading to amber and green at the rim, a classic indicator of extreme maturity.

Quinta do Noval, Non Vintage

Noval Tawny Port
Bottled in 1974

This Quinta Do Noval Tawny Port is a style of fortified wine characterised by its amber colour and complex flavour profile that develops from extended aging in wooden barrels. Such wines are typically less fruity and more nuanced compared to Ruby Port and reveal amber colour with aromas of dried fruits, toasted nuts, caramel, and occasionally a hint of spice or vanilla. On the palate it should be smooth and balanced, with notes of nuts, dried fruits (such as figs and raisins), caramel, and hints of citrus peel.

Serving & Food Pairing
Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting.
