Description and Reviews:
Barros Port, 1964
Colheita Port
An exceptional and beautifully mature Colheita Port, the 1964 Barros has spent over six decades ageing in seasoned oak casks, developing remarkable depth, complexity and finesse. This is a wine of real pedigree, offering a rare opportunity to experience a fully evolved vintage from one of Portugal’s most respected Port houses.
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in colour with rich mahogany tones, the nose is intensely aromatic, revealing layers of dried figs, raisins and dates, alongside toasted walnuts, caramel and hints of spice. The palate is silky, concentrated and wonderfully balanced, combining richness with a vibrant acidity that lifts the wine. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, with lingering notes of dried fruit, toffee and subtle spice.
Serving & Food Pairing
Colheita Ports are ready to drink and do not require decanting. Best served slightly chilled at 12–13°C, it pairs beautifully with desserts such as crème brûlée, tarte tatin or nut-based dishes including almond tart. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative after-dinner wine. Once opened, store in the fridge and consume within three months.
Producer
Barros, founded in 1913, is renowned for its expertise in aged Tawny and Colheita Ports. The wines are matured for extended periods in oak casks, allowing them to develop exceptional complexity and character over time.
