Description and Reviews:
The 1954 Harveys' Vintage port is actually believed to be 1954 Grahams Malvedos. Grahams have indicated that the 1954 Malvedos Vintage was supplied exclusively to Harveys of Bristol in this year who bottled it under their own brand.
Established in Bristol, England, in 1796, the company has been a prominent player in the wine trade for over two centuries. Originally founded by John Harvey, it began as a small wine merchant, importing and distributing wines primarily from Portugal.
Over the years, J. Harvey & Sons expanded its operations and gained a reputation for its expertise in sourcing and aging high-quality wines. The company played a significant role in popularizing Portuguese wines in the United Kingdom and beyond. One of its most famous products is Harvey's Bristol Cream, a well-known brand of sherry that has become synonymous with the company.
Winemakers thoughts of the harvest for 1954 There was practically no escolha (selection) … The graduações (sugar readings) were good and the mostos (musts) had very excellent colour and had plenty of grip. They were also full of flavour and were most pleasing to the nose and palate. [1954s] should turn out excellent wines.
