Pocas, 1967

Colheita (Single Harvest) Port

Description and Reviews:
Vintage & Background
The 1967 vintage in the Douro yielded grapes that, when transformed into Colheita Port, reveal both richness and elegance. A Colheita is a single-harvest tawny fortified wine that ages oxidatively in oak casks before bottling — in this case around 40 years in wood before release. Poças has a long tradition in Port production, and this 1967 represents a rare mature expression of historic Douro terroir and craftsmanship.

Appearance & Nose
In the glass the wine shows a deep amber-gold with antique hues, typical of extended oxidative aging. The bouquet is complex and inviting, with aromas of dried fruit — fig, date, apricot — interwoven with honeyed notes, citrus peel, and spice. Subtle oak nuances of vanilla and smoke add depth and sophistication, balancing the rich noble sweetness with elegance.

Palate & Texture
The palate is velvety and refined, carrying concentrated flavours of caramelised stone fruit, walnut, toffee, and delicate spice. Despite its sweetness, there is a lively backbone of acidity that keeps the richness poised rather than cloying, leading into a long, persistent finish marked by citrus-zest brightness and gentle oxidative complexity.
