Description and Reviews:
A 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port Wine from Quevedo.
The 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port (LBV) is a traditionally styled (lightly filtered but not cold stabilized) blend of Touriga Franca (35%), Touriga Nacional (15%), Tinta Roriz (20%), Tinta Barroca (22%) and Tinto Cão filling out the blend. It was bottled in May 2023 with a long cork and 84 grams of residual sugar after aging for three years in large French vats. Expressive and fruit-forward in its its dry fashion, this adds some structure, but the tannins are never too hard. It is easy to drink now. The depth is average and the power is controlled, although there is some bite on the finish. The key here is the fruit, though. The tasty fruit is hard to resist even now. It will certainly improve over the next couple of years and hold for at least another decade, probably more, after that. When retasted the next day, it was even more expressive. Overall, this is an elegant and attractive LBV.
