Description and Reviews:
The LBV Port made by renowned producer Quinta das Carvalhas is a delightful and accessible type of Port that offers rich, complex flavours without the need for extensive aging. Whether you're new to Port or a seasoned enthusiast, LBV Port provides a rewarding tasting experience.
Tasting Notes This 2019 Late Bottled Vintage Port from Carvalhas divulges a balanced bouquet of mature black cherries, nuances of cistus combined with dark chocolate and hints of wood. Full-bodied, fruity, dense, rich and firm with a great length of flavour, result of the prolonged stay in wood.
Serving & Food Pairing While LBV Port is usually filtered and doesn’t necessarily need decanting like Vintage Ports, decanting can still enhance the experience by allowing the wine to breathe and open up its flavors. LBV Port should be served slightly below room temperature, ideally between 15-17°C (59-63°F). It will pair best with goats cheese, almonds, blue cheese, brownies, nuts, and chocolate but it can also enhance game based dishes that are accompanied by fruit-based sauces.
Quinta das Carvalhas, a prestigious estate in Portugal's Douro Valley, is known for its high-quality wines and stunning vineyard landscapes. Established in 1864, the estate has over 500 acres of vineyards planted with traditional Portuguese grape varieties. Quinta das Carvalhas produces a variety of wines, including fortified Port wines and stills, including Carvalhas Tinto, Vinhas Velhas, Reserva, and Vintage Port. Visitors can explore the estate, taste its wines, and enjoy stunning views of the Douro Valley.
How to store your LBV Port: Store the bottle in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. If the bottle has been opened, it can typically be stored for up to two weeks if recorked and kept in a cool place. These Late Bottled Ports are unfiltered but do not require decanting. They will cellar up to 15+ years.
