Branco das Carvalhas
White Wine From the Douro Valley 96 Points - Revista de Vinhos Special Offer | was £32.95 | Now £24.95
Description and Reviews:
This stunning 2022 white wine from Quinta Das Carvalhas is a blend of the indigenous varieties of the Douro Valley, Viosinho, Rabigato and Côdega de Larinho. It shows fine and delicate but intense aromas of citrus and stone fruit with hints of vanilla and toast from ageing in wood. Although full-bodied on the palate, it provokes a feeling of lightness due to its freshness of flavours and lively acidity, ending with a very clean and refreshing aftertaste. Drink now or cellar up to 15 Years.
Vinification of Quinta das Carvalhas White Wine 2022: The grapes are pressed in a pneumatic press. Fermentation begins in stainless steel vats with temperature control and ends in new French oak barrels. This is followed by an 8-month ageing in the same barrels on fine lees.
When looking at producing a top Douro white, the focus was set upon the idea of blending the finest, traditional white Douro varieties and allowing them to integrate in perfect harmony with oak to reinforce its structure and generate more complexity. Carvalhas Branco was born in 2010 through the winemakers' ambitious approach to the small parcels of white grapes located at one of Quinta das Carvalhas’ highest spots, where the varieties Viosinho and Gouveio benefit from a higher altitude (400m) and cool breezes which are perfect for a good quality ripening of white grapes.
