Quinta da Devesa, 1944

Colheita Port in presentation box
***95 Points - Robert Parker***

Description and Reviews:
Quinta da Devesa 1944 Tawny Colheita Port.
We are delighted to exclusively bring you a piece of history. This was one of the earliest surviving vintages made by Quinta da Devesa after it was acquired by the Fortunato family (in 1941). The 1944 is made from grapes harvested in that year - when the world was at war. The casks have been carefully maintained by the family, ageing gracefully until it was bottled in 2022. The the current generation are delighted to be able to share this rare Port with you, its longevity a testament to the previous generations who put so much care and attention into its creation back in 1944.

Tasting Notes:
The deep tawny colour has green, verdant flecks around the edges highlighting that you are about to taste a wine of great age. On the nose there are complex notes of dried fruits, raisins tobacco, spices and caramel. On the palate, these combine to make a powerful fusion supported by a lively acidity - this is an immense wine with a silky texture. The finish is an endless crescendo of flavours and textures. VWP (TC) Note Feb 22 (Tasted at Q da Devesa).
