Quinta do Noval 1975 Vintage Port is a rare mature release from one of the Douro’s most celebrated estates, offering nearly fifty years of graceful bottle evolution. The 1975 vintage produced elegant, lighter-structured Ports with vibrant aromatics, and Noval — known for its purity of fruit and vineyard expression — made one of the finest wines of the year.
The nose is beautifully mature, showing lifted aromas of dried cherries, rose petal, fig, tobacco leaf and gentle spice. Subtle notes of orange peel, almond and old wood emerge with time in the glass, giving the wine a refined, ethereal character typical of long-aged Noval.
On the palate, the wine is delicate and harmonious, with softened tannins and flavours of dried red fruits, caramelised nuts and warm spice. The texture is silky and elegant, offering depth without heaviness, and the finish is long, savoury and quietly persistent — a hallmark of Noval’s distinctive style.
Food pairing: Perfect with soft blue cheeses, almond tarts, dark chocolate or simply enjoyed on its own as a reflective, end-of-evening Port. Drinking beautifully now.
