Warre's Vintage Port, 1969
Late Bottled Vintage Port
Description and Reviews:
Warre’s Late Bottled Vintage Port 1969
A beautifully mature LBV from a classic era, now showing the gentle complexity that only time can bring. In the glass, the wine has softened to a warm garnet core with amber highlights, hinting at its evolution.
The nose is elegant and inviting, offering aromas of dried red fruits, fig and sultana, layered with notes of walnut, cedar and a touch of spice. On the palate, it is smooth and well-rounded, with flavours of stewed plum, raisin and caramelised sugar, supported by mellow tannins and a soft, integrated structure.
The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of dried fruit and gentle nuttiness.
Serving: Best enjoyed slightly cool, this mature LBV is ready to drink now and does not require decanting. Pairs wonderfully with hard cheeses, nut-based desserts, or simply enjoyed on its own.
Summary: A rare and characterful mature LBV, offering a softer, more approachable expression of Warre’s house style, with the added depth that comes from extended bottle age.
A very rare late release of the 1969 vintage bottled in 1973.
