Ramos Pinto, 1970

Ramos Pinto Vintage Port
***95 pts- Wine Advocate***

From the outstanding 1970 vintage, the Ramos Pinto is a beautiful port. Excellent colour with a little red. On the nose jammy strawberries, spice, a hint of pepper and liquorice. On the palate, so beautifully smooth and in great balance, red fruit some violets. A long long finish. This is a beautiful wine.

Rebello Valente Vintage Port, 1970

Vintage Port

Robertson Bros were the shippers behind this brand, which was once one of the most reputable, though, since a fine 1970, very little Vintage Port bears the name.

**92 points Wine Spectator**

Drink it alone for dessert. It is like a delicious piece of fruitcake. Medium red, with a roasted, chocolate, earthy nose, medium-bodied, with plenty of tannins and roasted, fruity flavours on the palate. Will improve. (1989)

Royal Oporto, 1970

Real Companhia Velha Vintage Port

From the outstanding 1970 vintage. The colour is more tawny than red, and fairly light. It gives the distinct impression of a very old, very mature vintage Port.
The nose gives a strong impression of honey and is followed by sweet grapes and soft red fruits. Very slightly spirity, but not so much that it interferes. This all changes after 5 hours as the honey and fruits nearly vanish and the nose became spirity.
Palate: Very soft and elegant with a very faint smokey note. There's more "sweet" to it than anything else, but it's not a pure sugary sweetness but rather the remains of a sweet fruit compote.

Sandeman, 1970

Vintage Port

From the excellent 1970 vintage, the Sandeman has only just reached full maturity. A pale garnet colour with a powerful bouquet of sweet fruit introduces the beautiful blend of chocolate, cherry, and jammy fruit flavours. A very enjoyable port.

Taylor Fladgate, 1970

Vintage Port

The 1970 Taylor’s Vintage Port is one of the most celebrated Ports of the 20th century—a legendary wine from a widely declared and universally admired vintage. Renowned for its immense structure, concentration, and ageing potential, this bottling epitomizes Taylor’s house style: firm, linear, and built for the long haul. Over five decades later, it remains a benchmark for mature Vintage Port and continues to impress those lucky enough to open a well-stored bottle.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet centre with a fading amber rim, offering immediate aromatic complexity. The nose is expansive and refined,
