Kopke Port

Kopke 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Aged in wood casks until they are completely mature, Tawny ports are a golden colour with multi-dimensional layers of aromas and flavours. The domination of Vintage Ports in past years is now challenged by the advantages of the tawnies, especially vintage colheita tawnies for restaurants and retail consumers. Where vintage ports have immediate air shock upon opening the bottle wherein they were aged and have a shelf life of only a few hours to a week; tawny ports have had air working on them through the cask during all the years of ageing, giving them a open-life of a month or longer. Lighter and more delicate than vintage ports,

Quinta do Noval Port, 1998

20 year Old Tawny Port

This port is extremely complex with aromas and flavours of roast almonds, dried fruits, nuts, vanilla, spice and tobacco.

"Orange-tawny color the 20 year old by Noval is a generous step up from the 10 year old bottling. Delivering a more profound nutty essence, particularly cashews on the nose along with mandarin orange and spice, I really liked this Tawny. Medium-bodied initially, by the third day it had gained more weight as well as a more profound finish. I noted the mouthfeel was extremely smooth and pleasurable along with the warming, clean aguardente. A fine counterpoint between the nutty and citrus realm with a toasty caramel note and slight char to the aftertaste which added another dimension.

Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port, 1998

Quinta Madalena Vintage Port (Comes in individual wooden box as illustrated).

The 1998 Smith Woodhouse Madalena is a rich, opulent style of Single Vineyard Vintage Port with lots of forward, ripe fruits and an intense, long palate.
There are intense flavors of blackberry jam, sour cherry marmalade, some overripe blackcurrant, a little bit of spicy bitterness and a hint of graphite. The acidity is well in balance with the body and the tannins seem to be getting pretty much resolved and smooth at this point. The finish is quite firm and noticeably drier than the mid-palate with long and rather savory flavors of peppery spice, graphite, some crunchy dark berries and a touch of ripe plums.
