1947 Port Vintage Report
The 1947 port vintage was outstanding. This year produced elegant and delicate ports and was declared by only 11 shippers. Well cellared wines are drinking well and will last for many more years. Very popular in the wine starved 1950's which is why little remains - a port from this year would make an extremely rare 78 year old wine gift for a birthday or anniversary this year.

Warre's Vintage Port, 1947
Vintage Port - Plain label.

On the nose, it often reveals a complex mix of dried fruit, toasted almonds, figs, and hints of citrus peel, leather, and old wood. The palate is delicate yet persistent, with soft sweetness, mellow tannins, and a touch of spice that lingers on the finish. …
