Although the year was not a general declaration, some very good vintage and single quinta ports were made. Now fully mature, the 1962 ports still have good structure and finish and will last a few more years with good cellaring. There are some outstanding Colheita Ports that were made.

This rare port-wine has been stored in seasoned oak casks since the 1962 harvest until it was bottled this year.
Tasting Notes: Dark oak colour with verdant edge. A very complex nose, with toasted nut, dried prunes, and an orange citrus zest with a hint pepper. On the palate there is a light volatile acidity and soft integrated tannins that contribute to make this an elegant wine. 94/100 VWPtasting 11/2021 TC

Remarkably, the 1962 Nacional exhibited an even more opaque color than the 1970, as well as exquisite richness and concentration. Massive (but not in the Taylor style), this phenomenally concentrated, complex, still youthful vintage port is a tour de force in winemaking, and one of the greatest, can you believe this, young vintage ports I have ever tasted. This wine needs another 5-10 years to reach full maturity as neither the color nor aromatics reveal much development. It could easily have one-hundred years of longevity. …
