Quinta da Boavista- Reserva, Red Wine, Douro ***92+ Points Wine advocate***
Description and Reviews:
From the flagship wine from Quinta da Boavista. This is a blend of old vines around 80 years old and new plantings. Aged for two years in new French oak. Beautifully fine, knitted tannins and a finish that just goes on and on. Complex up top with faithful Douro fruit ahead of subtle spice, mocha and tobacco notes.
Quinta da Boavista is one of the most significant and picturesque vineyard estates in the Douro Valley. The Quinta was home to Baron Joseph James Forrester, who in 1843 produced the first demarcated map of the Douro Valley, still used to this day. The estate has passed through the hands of the Offley family, through to Sogrape Vinhos and in 2013, was sold to Lima Smith Lda.
40 hectares of Classification A vines. The vineyards have many expositions, traditional schist soils and range in altitude from 75m-325m.
Our first, 2013 vintage was launched in 2016. We collaborate with consultant winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet (formerly Petrus) for his expertise and experience, particularly in the blending and maturation stages of each vintage.
