"Punt e Mes" translates to "point and a half" in the Piedmontese dialect. The name is said to have originated from a story where a stockbroker ordered a vermouth with an extra half-dose of bitters, hence "one point and a half."
Punt e Mes has been produced since 1870 and remains one of Carpano's most celebrated products. Carpano itself is credited with creating the first commercial vermouth in 1786.
