Taylor Fladgate, 1983
Vintage Port
The 1983 Taylor's Vintage Port is a distinguished example from one of the most esteemed Port houses, reflecting the unique characteristics of that year's growing season. Winemakers at the time noted satisfactory color extraction and exceptionally aromatic musts.

Dow's, 1982
Quinta do Bomfim, Vintage Port Half bottle format
Nose is cherry forward, with orange citrus and cinnamon, in addition to notes of fancy molasses.
On the palate, cherry dominates, with blueberry and blackberry notes. Fruitcake, cinnamon, and a slight ginger nuance complement the orange zest finish, which lasts easily 90 seconds. The lightness of the mouth feel is at odds with the power punch intensity of flavour behind this vintage- even after 42 years!- (Cellar Tracker user review- kipper38)

Graham's Port, 1980
Vintage Port
Purple fading to red and finally pink at the rim. Rich blackberries on the nose along with very faint stewed strawberries. The tannins were powerful on Christmas day but mellowed some by the next evening. The blackberries carried through as a prominent flavor, but added a sourish note almost like a sour cherry. The finish starts out with a rich butter cookie note, but then quickly switches to grape stem.

Dow's, 1977
Vintage Port
Medium cranberry red center and slight bricking on the edge. Intoxicating floral fragrance that filled the room, during its nine hour decant; accented by anise, plum and raspberry notes and a bit of spirit. Fresh, fleshy grape, dark cherry and fig flavors melded with underpinnings of licorice, chocolate and warming spirit. It's developing into a stunning middle-aged Port at 34 years of age, with little signs of nearing peak yet. Rich and multi-faceted, smooth and velvety ... even more so the second day it was opened. The acidity was near perfect and the tannins are tame but omnipresent; while the finish was spicy, warm and extremely long. …

Taylor Fladgate, 1977
Vintage Port
Remains of label
The 1977 Taylor's Vintage Port is an incredible wine from an outstanding vintage. Great plum red, vibrant. Fresh nose, clean fruit with delicate floral notes. A wine with great complexity of fruit – berry and spice, dense, luscious and concentrated, yet with a soft, delicate finish which belies the inner strength.
Reviews:
Robert Parker writes.... "This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. …

Tasting notes highlight a prominent nose featuring chocolate oranges and marmalade, complemented by a subtle hint of rose perfume. On the palate, it presents a slightly hollow entry that gradually unfolds into flavors of ripe fruit and bitter orange. The finish is characterized by a touch of heat, settling into a soft and sweet length reminiscent of red licorice.

Niepoort Port, 1975
Vintage Port
The Niepoort 1975 Vintage Port is a refined and fully mature wine from a vintage that, while more restrained than the great declarations of the decade, was indeed officially declared by several top houses, including Niepoort. The year offered favorable conditions, particularly in the Douro’s higher-altitude vineyards, resulting in wines with excellent balance, structure, and aging potential. Now approaching 50 years in bottle, the 1975 Niepoort shows a brick-red core fading to tawny at the rim, with a nose of dried cherries, figs, leather, toasted almonds, and hints of citrus peel.
