***98 Points-Derek Smedley MW***
Fragrance the nose has a mix of autumn hedgerow fruits aromatic. The palate has breadth of flavour power and depth in the middle the tannins are fine and quite discreet. There is underlying freshness bramble and bilberry slightly tight at the back with the rich fruit exploding on the finish. Drink: 2035-70

***18/20 Points-Jancis Robinson MW***
Very dark blackish crimson. Reminds me a little of the Noval Nacional for its wildness (and foot sweat?!). Rather heady mix of wild herbs and grasses. Very juicy indeed. Massive impact and drama with great grip on the end.

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 2006

Vintage Port

The Quinta Do Vesuvio Vintage Port 2006, was 'declared' as a vintage by the shipper.

Classic power with a lovely violet-scented and peppery nose and delicious layers of opulent blackberry fruit within a finely structured tannin framework that ensures very good aging potential. The hot summer of 2006 has added an additional layer of concentration to the traditional Vesuvio velvety richness and depth. This is a very great Vesuvio Vintage Port.

This most beautifully located quinta (farm), down on the water's edge of the River Douro has been revitalised by the Symington family. This is a major 'house' that continues the tradition of treading the grapes in the ancient stone 'lagares' (troughs).

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 2004

Vintage Port -SINGLE BOTTLE 75cl

** 94/100 Points - Wine Enthusiast ***

Only 1100 Cases made in 2004. The 2004 Vesuvio has an opaque, inky purple colour. The excellent ripeness of the grapes and the relatively high Baumés allowed for longer fermentations, producing wines of exceptional concentration, depth of colour and tannic structure. It has a fragrant nose of violets and layers of rich blackberry fruit on the palate, making it irresistible for broaching young, although the wine will age for decades.

Reviews:
94 out of 100 Points
“A powerhouse of a wine that goes from densely rich to massive without a pause. The ripe fruit, dark, heavy tannins and black plum and fig flavors all come from the terroir of this great vineyard.

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 2001

Vintage Port

The 2001 Quinta do Vesuvio is a very dark ruby colour. The Touriga Nacional’s tiny yields brought great concentration to the wine, while the Touriga Franca, due to the good weather during the harvest, achieved perfect ripening, creating wines of great elegance. The Tinta Barroca was very ripe at the time of picking, with a higher than average baumé, producing wines of excellent structure and ageing potential. The old plantings of Tinta Roriz had lower than normal yields in 2001, giving wines with a typical concentration of berry fruit aromas.

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 1995

Vintage Port

Peter Symington has chosen just 52 pipes to bottle as Quinta do Vesuvio 1995 Vintage Port. The wine is rich, dark and concentrated, it has aromas of violets and gum cistus and is very smooth and elegant in the mouth.

Located in the Douro Superior, Quinta do Vesuvio is a legendary property, identified as far back as the 16th Century. In the 19th Century under Dona Antónia Ferreira the Vesuvio wines gained an extraordinary reputation. In 1989 the Symington family acquired and invested in the estate, re-planting and expanding the vineyards to 141 hectares (of a 325 ha estate). The property is fundamentally north facing, but with seven hills, seven valleys and altitudes from 130 to 530 metres, has a range of aspects and microclimates.
