This 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin, Red Burgundy is intense, perfumed bouquet with blueberry and blackberry aromas and an animal touch. Nice structure on the palate with subtle accents of savory and meaty notes and lovely texture with good ageing potential.
In the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin is the area with the highest concentration of red Grands Crus of which the legendary Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze, great favorites of Napoleon. It is even said that the Emperor made his men salute when passing by these venerable vines. The wines of Gevrey-Chambertin, only red from Pinot Noir, are sought after for their great strength and velvet texture.
Serve this beautiful red Burgundy between 17°C to 18°C and pair with grilled and roasted red meats and full-flavoured cheeses.
