Rioja, 1964

Reserva, Bodegas Franco-Espanolas
Special Offer | Was £189 | Now £159

Description and Reviews:
This 1964 wine is from the famous Rioja region in Spain. It was aged for two years in oak casks and one more year in the bottle. It has aged gracefully into a classic old Reserva Rioja, with a garnet and mahogany colour, mellow aromas of coffee, leather and saddle leather, and a long, elegant finish.

1964 Bodegas Franco-Espanolas Cellar Tracker Review: Medium garnet colour, orange edges. Light nose. Red fruit, leather, tobacco, soy sauce, earth, spices, cinnamon, clove and balsamic notes on the palate, with lively acidity, fine, mostly resolved tannin and good length. Smoothly textured, with some old age sweetness. Perfectly balanced after about an hour of aeration. Rather big and broad and not quite as weightless and elegant as the best examples on day one, but ethereal, balsamic and very smooth on day two.
